When the Sun Sets on Simpler Times

When the Sun Sets on Simpler Times
Playa Del Rey, CA, USA

This life we live is like a river,
Or at least that’s what I’ve said.
That’s the idea in my head
When mortality makes me quiver.

Each bend brings novelty to face
As years flow by while on we drift.
It seems as though things always shift
To bring us a more complex place.

Better? Worse? Or in between?
It’s hard to say the way we grow,
Yet we must remain as we row.
For from the ride there’s much to glean.

And so I’m not too worried how,
I’ll be outlived by words with rhymes.
The sun has set on simpler times,
But each day rises on the now.
