LinkedIn is like a dating app
Where you swipe for a role.
You paint up your best profile
Then relinquish all control.

Sometimes it feels like throwing darts
While wearing a blindfold,
Yet other times you’re confident,
You feel like you’ve struck gold.

The ideal job description,
A recruiter call that clicks,
Then you meet the hiring manager:
“She’s perfect!” your mind tricks.

But she’s seeing other people,
And soon hours turn into days.
You’ve not heard back in a week now.
Naturally, certain thoughts raise.

“What’s wrong with me?” you wonder,
Gazing at your resume.
“I’ve got years of great experience.”
“I can start with no delay.”

And then you get the email,
“Thank you for your…” and you stop.
You can feel your self-worth waver
As your heart begins to drop.

But the truth you must remember
As the numbness takes its grip,
Is the fit just wasn’t proper,
Do not let your value slip.

The job market is scary.
Being unemployed is rough.
But the fact remains it teaches you
How to be bold and tough.

So don’t let doubt discourage you,
Leave feelings where they lurk.
Let’s lean into our networks
